Hartman Creek State Park ConditionsConditions as of Friday, February 5, 2010: TrailsCross-country ski trails are in good to fair condition. The Pope Lake Trail was packed yesterday but not tracked due to icy conditions. All the trails will be packed by this weekend, but not tracked. There is an 8-inch base on the trails right now. Please be cautious, as there are some icy areas on the trails and in the parking lots. Call (715) 258-2372 for updated conditions. A state trail pass is required for the cross-country ski trails at Hartman Creek, in addition to a vehicle admission sticker. The annual trail pass is valid on all ski, bike and horse trails in Wisconsin that require the trail pass for users 16 years and older. Not all cross-country ski trails will be groomed after every snowfall. Primary trails groomed will be the Pope Lake Trail and the outside loop of the Oak Ridge Trail System. Please remember that hiking and pets are not allowed on the ski trails. Other trails such as the Deer Path and the area north of Hartman Lake (see map [PDF350KB]) are open for pet walking. All snowmobile trails are now open in Waupaca County. Waupaca County snowmobile trail conditions [exit DNR] Horse and off-road bike trails are closed for the season. CampingThe family campground is closed until April 1, 2010. The shower buildings are closed for the season. The group campground is closed for the season. Reserve a campsite dates up to 11 months from now by using the Web or calling (888) 947-2757, TTY (800) 274-7275. Any firewood brought in from more than 50 miles away or from a quarantined area [PDF, 102KB] or from out of state will be confiscated due to the potential of carrying harmful emerald ash borers [exit DNR]. The books are new, the activities have been updated, and the patches are all new and spiffy. Day Use AreaWhispering Pines day use area is closed for the season and will reopen in the spring. Vehicle Admission StickersVehicle admission stickers for 2010 are available now and are valid through December 31, 2010. When you arrive at the park, you will need to buy a park sticker if you don't already have one. if the office is not open, please use the self-registration box outside the office (yellow box).
