Copper Falls State Park ConditionsConditions as of Monday, January 4, 2010: TrailsAll cross-country ski trails are open and in excellent condition. The Mellen area has received more than 12 inches of snow over the last few weeks creating perfect skiing conditions. The trails were groomed and tracked on January 4. New to Copper Falls this year is the addition of a 3 kilometer skate loop. The skating loop starts at the Park Headquarters and meanders along the edge of the woods. The Friends of Copper Falls State Park have assisted with trail development and we are excited as we anticipate good use of the trail this season. The Park will continue to groom 8 kilometers of classical trail. A new multi-purpose trail has also been established allowing people access to Copper Falls and Brownstone Falls regardless of their preferred way to navigate the snow. The trail will be groomed for walking and snowshoeing. Follow the Copper Falls Winter Access Sign for parking and the trailhead. Pet owners are reminded that pets must be leashed at all times and are not allowed on the ski trails. CampingCampsites 1-6 are plowed and ready for those wishing to winter camp. Camping is very popular May through October. For those thinking ahead to 2010, you can make your reservation online or by calling (888) 947-2757. Check regulations regarding transporting firewood. Firewood originating from beyond 50 miles of the park is prohibited.
