County Forest Administration Grant

Any county employing a professional forester in the capacity of County Forest Administrator or Assistant County Forest Administrator can receive up to 50 percent of its employee’s annual salary and fringe benefit costs. In addition, funding is available for up to 50 percent of the dues to a non-profit organization that provides counsel to the County Forest Administrator and that serves as an organizational liaison for DNR.

Counties having lands enrolled under the County Forest Law, s.28.10 [exit DNR] & 28.11 [exit DNR], Wis. Stats.

Eligibility

The person in the position qualifying for the grant must have a four year degree in Forestry from an accredited university. Fringe benefit funding is limited to 40 percent of salary. Funding for dues to an organizational non-profit representing the county forests is limited to $50,000 collectively for all counties combined.

Deadlines

Application materials must be submitted by January 31 of each year.

  • Annual County Forest work plan approved by county board and DNR
  • Projected salary and benefits for qualifying position for upcoming year
  • Invoice showing a county's dues payment to a qualifying non-profit organization
