Peters Marsh Wildlife Area

Peters Marsh Wildlife Area

Peters Marsh Wildlife Area covers 1,687 acres. The property is made up of a variety of habitat types including forests, fields, wetlands and native grass lands. This variety of cover provides homes to numerous wildlife species including waterfowl, ruffed grouse, deer, turkey, black bear, woodcock, snowshoe hare, beaver and many others.

Hunters, hikers and birdwatchers alike will enjoy all that this property has to offer. There are six parking areas that provide access to more than ten miles of improved grass walking trails. Motorized vehicle travel is prohibited.

Peters Marsh is located on county Highway A nine miles northeast of Antigo.


Peters Marsh has undergone many changes. During the late 1800's this area was extensively logged for white pine and hemlock. During the 1930's wildfires kept the new forest from maturing. As a result these fires early succession species such as aspen dominate the area. Modern forest management practices have maintained this timber type to this day.


The Peters Marsh Wildlife Area offers many recreational opportunities.
