Havenwoods State Forest is Wisconsin’s only urban state forest, featuring 237 acres of grasslands, woods and wetlands in the city of Milwaukee. Hike, run, bike and watch wildlife on over six miles of trails. Explore one of the four ponds, stroll over the 120-foot bridge or find a bench to sit and relax outdoors.

Welcome!
- The forest is open year-round from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Nature Center hours through Oct. 2019: Open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed on Sundays and holidays.
Directions
Havenwoods State Forest is on the north side of Milwaukee, one block west of Sherman Boulevard on Douglas Avenue. From West Silver Spring Drive, turn north onto North Sherman Boulevard. At the second stoplight, turn left (west) on Douglas Avenue. After one short block, you will be at the Havenwoods entrance. Continue up the hill to the parking lot and nature center. Geographic coordinates are 43° 7' 20.5" N, 87° 58' 17.8" W.
Milwaukee County Transit buses [exit DNR] (routes 12 and 30) stop along Havenwoods' eastern boundary.
Fees
- Vehicle admission sticker is not required at Havenwoods State Forest.
