2018 Holiday hunt and extended archery hunt

The 2018 antlerless-only firearm "holiday hunt" will take place in select Farmland Zone counties [PDF] from December 24, 2018 to January 1, 2019. In counties where the Holiday Hunt is taking place, only antlerless deer may be harvested using any remaining antlerless harvest authorizations valid in that county and land type (public or private). All hunters must follow blaze orange requirements in counties holding a Holiday Hunt. Any counties not holding a Holiday Hunt firearm season follow normal archery and crossbow regulations and bucks may be harvested by bow or crossbow using the appropriate harvest authorization.

In addtion, 12 counties will also provide extended archery and crossbow seasons [PDF], which will run until January 31, 2019. Either sex hunting is allowed with the proper harvest authorizations after the antlerless-only Holiday Hunt has closed.

Please see the 2018 Deer Hunting Regulations for more information.

Registration of deer harvest is required

All harvested deer must be registered by 5:00 p.m. the day after recovery in the Deer Management Unit (DMU) of harvest or an adjoining DMU. Deer may be registered online through Game Reg, by phone at 1-844-GAME-REG (1-844-426-3734), or at a participating in-person registration station. Before you register, have the unique deer harvest authorization number ready.
